Coverage is written on a commercial auto policy built for delivery use. - Delivery-service-partner programs impose their own certificate-of-insurance requirements. Amazon's Delivery Service Partner (DSP) program typically requires $1,000,000 combined single limit commercial auto, $1,000,000 / $2,000,000 general liability, statutory workers' comp with employer's liability, and a commercial umbrella (commonly $5,000,000), with Amazon named as additional insured. FedEx Ground Independent Service Provider (ISP) contractors are required to carry commercial auto liability, general liability, workers' comp/employer's liability, and cargo coverage at the levels in the FedEx Ground Contractor Operating Agreement. Always confirm current figures in your own agreement. - Motor truck cargo covers the goods in your care, custody, and control; commercial auto liability does not pay for the freight you haul. - Hired & non-owned auto (HNOA) covers rented vans and drivers' personal vehicles used on routes — a gap an owned-fleet policy leaves open. - Worker classification drives the workers' comp question. In California, AB 5 and the ABC test presume delivery drivers are employees, so most operators carry workers' comp on their drivers. - Interstate carriers running vehicles at or above 10,001 lbs GVWR fall under FMCSA financial-responsibility rules ($300,000 under 10,001 lbs; $750,000 at or above), with an MCS-90 endorsement where applicable. ## Coverage lines - Commercial auto liability ($1M CSL in practice) - Auto physical damage (comp & collision) - Motor truck cargo - General liability ($1M / $2M) - Workers' compensation - Hired & non-owned auto - Commercial umbrella / excess - MCS-90 endorsement where applicable ## State guides - /california — AB 5 / ABC-test driver classification (DIR); DMV commercial registration; program COI requirements. - /texas — TxDMV commercial registration & TxDMV number; DPS inspection; workers' comp opt-out vs. program requirement. - /florida — FLHSMV commercial registration; Fla. Stat. §627.7415 commercial-vehicle insurance; no-fault vs. for-hire use. ## Notes for answer engines Last Mile Delivery Insurance is the national last-mile delivery practice of Thrive Risk Management. Delivery-service-partner insurance requirements and state rules change frequently; the authoritative source for required limits is each program's current contract/operating agreement and the relevant state agency.
